Does that make sense? Farewell but not goodbye?
Life has been one big whirlwind for me this past three months. Lots was happening, and then my mother in law passed away. Everything changed for me in that moment, although I didn't know it yet.
In the past month I've been cleaning and taking care of business with my husband - all matters relating to her estate, and taking care of mail, selling and giving away nick nacks, deciding who to call, who to write and so forth.
It is a full time job, and emotionally draining.
K however, has been doing great. We still continue to go swimming, hiking and to the zoo, and generally keep each other company while Hubby... more
I want to go skiing, but we haven’t this year. Or last year.
At Christmas Hubby and I joked about taking our family sledding a few years back – and everyone went, including my parents.
Last year, My seventy years old + dad went parasailing in Malaysia. Even though I wasn’t there, I have the video to prove it. I’ve heard he’s glad he went, but maybe he wouldn’t do it again.
Age should not matter when it comes to sports – and activities we do – but it does matter.
The time just slips away and the priorities have shifted. Living... more
I’ve been gone from this blog for almost a month, and in that month I’ve aged. Not just gotten a month older, but I’ve aged from life experience.
My Mother in Law passed away this week. I wrote about the experience a bit over on the fost-adopt blog, so many of you might know that is what has been happening with me. Sandra also left a wonderful post wishing our family well.
Although we are still grieving, sorting, telling stories, laughing, and generally going through the... more
Before I do anything else this morning, I'd like to take a moment to send heartfelt condolences and cyber hugs across the planet to my co-blogger, Michelle, and her family on the loss of K's grandma, Michelle's mother-in-law and her dear husband's mother.
Readers who look forward to Michelle's posts will have to put up with just me for a while as more pressing issues take priority for her for a while.
Please join me, however, in sending good thoughts, positive energy and lots of love toward her and her family at this sad and stressful time.
Don’t ask me how, but I’ve managed to get through all the Holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year without putting on weight.
Really!
I ate everything I wanted, and haven’t worked out for two weeks, and still I’m doing ok. Of course, I have not lost weight either, but I still find that I am joyous and grateful not to have to loose 1 or 2 or 5 pounds more.
This year I really want to work out four times per week and eat healthy. I say that every year, and don’t really stick to it, although I’ve get part way there.... more
Today is my birthday.
I’m 48 years old.
I’m still about 10-15 pounds overweight.
My daughter K just turned three and I’m trying to adopt again through the foster care system.
Today is my birthday and I feel pretty dang good about my life.
My life is great. It is full of family and friends and.....
..... there are a lot of things I’d love to change about the world.
At this stage, I think less about what I... more
I’ve said it before that getting sick is no way to loose weight. But I am and I am and that’s why I missed my weight loss update yesterday.
It may be strep throat or at least a bad sore throat.
Yuk.
K is also sick, and Hubby is fighting it off. I tried to fight it off as well, but Mommy is the one who get sneezed on the most.
I do not think I’ll get well enough by tomorrow to get my long list of things done before Christmas. Saturday was the big day for Hubby to watch K so I could run errands. Oh well, so what is, is just good... more

My dog ate the cake.
Really! I’m saved from putting on weight by my 85 lb black lab mix.
We had a few pieces of cake left from K’s birthday party, and I’d wrapped it up and left it on the counter. When I returned a few hours later all that was left was the wrapping and a bit of the paper plate.
K was shouting.. "Ani ate the cake. Look all my cake is gone... Awwww..."
I’m... more
K's third birthday party was on Sunday. I invited eight of her closet friends. Actually I invited her two best friends that she plays with all the time – one from the gym and one from church, but then I had to invite my friends with young children, and then the other friend who would have been left out, and well, it just snowballed from there.
When you've got eight children who are three and under, they bring their parents. Most of the kids brought both parents, so we had almost sixteen adults (including us).
The kids ran and played,... more
Well, it sort of fits. Obviously I can get the dress on, and other people might wear it, but it is pretty tight.
I've got one of those pieces of clothing that squeeze and push and lift and pull - that I'll put on Saturday and then try the dress again.
I may be able to wear it.
You see I've got hips.
