Once upon a time I went to Vegas and saw the
Cirque du Soleil shows, played nickel slots until dawn, and stumbled home with my man on my arm. (My husband you guys!)….
I’m not a shopper. I’m not a glitz lover, and I don’t have lots of money to throw away. Even if I did, I wouldn’t throw it away. I’m to sensible like that.
But I love to watch other people do it.
I love Vegas mostly for the fun of the shows, great restaurants, a bit of fun at the slots and watching others play the tables.
I love Vegas for the people watching, the outrageousness of it all, the larger than life hotels and those that live in them.
The
fountains at Bellagio are spectacular.
The Chuhily Glass is breathtaking,
(but now we’ve got that in Colorado Springs!)
The free shows are all a bit hokey and fun the first time, and I refused to spend the money on the gondola at
The Venetian. Still, I love going.
But then, after three days I’m done for another five years or decade.
Then I went to Vegas with my hubby and my newly adopted one and a half year old daughter.
She was too old to sleep quietly and too young to keep herself occupied.
She was in toddlerhood.
You know what I mean.
You can’t take a minor onto a casino floor - not even to cut across – you have to use the specific pathways.
I didn’t know.
You can’t take a toddler into a fancy five star restaurant unless you want a bunch of people staring rudely at you.
Ok, that I DID know, so we didn’t do it.
Last time we went to Vegas I went on a business trip. I was supposed to speak at a conference and have the opportunity to sell my wares and book appointments, and generally network and have a good time.
The conference was cancelled the same day it was supposed to begin!
So hubby and daughter and myself found ourselves for three days in Hot Hot Vegas ( a cheap time to book a conference), with not much to do.
Oh to go sans child again someday.
Dr. G. How I envy you.
