My christmas dress fits!Well, it sort of fits. Obviously I can get the dress on, and other people might wear it, but it is pretty tight.

I’ve got one of those pieces of clothing that squeeze and push and lift and pull – that I’ll put on Saturday and then try the dress again.

I may be able to wear it.

You see I’ve got hips.

Dr Oz. says the most dangerous place to have extra weight is around the stomach.

No problem there for me. It is in my hips.

No doubt about it. I’m a curvy woman!

So, if you remember, this dress is a size eight. – I think it is an old size eight – whatever that means, because most of my other clothes are a size ten.

What has happened with sizes?

When I was in school being a ten was perfectly acceptable. I fit right in with most of the other kids and none of us worried too much about our weight.

When I got a bit older I wanted to be a size eight, and most of the time I was able to be a small or medium or eight and it suited me just fine.

Now girls are working toward being a size 0

0.

I don’t even know what that looks like in real life. On TV you see the girls so skinny, but you know the TV makes them look heavier so they must be really super skinny and I can’t stand it.

I like my curves.

So I’m just trying to get back to a healthy weight – for me.

I want to feel good and have a nice quality of life – be able to ski and run around and go down the toddler slide at the pool with K.

Just be a normal mom.

I’m almost there!

(weight wise that is).

How about you?

Im a size 10 and the smallest one out of my family and was always considered petite…. so I kinda always thought of myself as tiny… then I had to buy a size 14 wedding dress and have it altered. I carry my weight in my tummy..i have a wider waist but no thigh or butt issues.

Michelle, you crack me up, girl. i swear you do. i really enjoy reading your stuff. i can usually count on a good chuckle and/or something that will make me think. doesn’t get much better than that.

the sizes now days are a joke. i have a true size 8 leather skirt that looked so good on me back when i could wear the thing (i have saved it for years because i swear one day i will wear it again…kinda like Scarlet O’Hara holding up the rutabega at the end of ACT I of Gone With the Wind, except I’d be holding up a size 8 leather skirt..but as usual…i digress) i have some other current day size eights that i can no longer wear (argh!) and they look like a tent compared to my true size 8 leather skirt. soooo…the size TEN that i am presently wearing is probably more like a size TWELVE or even FOURTEEN from back in the day. oh gawd, i think i better go lie down now. oh, i forgot. good news. i’ve dropped two pounds. i didn’t gain any weight over the Thanksgiving holiday. and that was a major accomplishment. and then i weighed myself this morning and was down two pounds. YAY!
