It's Attitude Baby!

My husband thinks the most interesting thing about me is that I’m an older mom.

Huh?

The conversation came up because I was discussing the list I just did, 100 things about me with him, and I was asking him about it.

What shall I put on the list? What is interesting about me? I was asking for input.

You are an older mom.

Yea yea, I know, What else?

Being in my forties is interesting as it was interesting when I was twenty five or thirty five. I think about being an older mom mostly when I write for this blog, but I don't dwell on it otherwise.

I just am....who I am. And that happens to be older.

It's hard to believe the most interesting thing about me is... I’m old?

I’m sure he didn’t mean it exactly like that, but it got me thinking......

So I looked it up, - I typed in interesting older mom in Google and found survey results that say we don’t really care too much about getting older.

We are confident and busy with our lives.

Sure we think about it, but don't dwell on it.

As a group, what we care about most is our children.

No surprise there I guess.

Here’s the synopis of the survey:

One-third of the respondents said that they are the principal wage earner in their households and one-fifth were single, divorced or widowed.

Almost two-thirds believe they look younger than their age, while more than half say men pay them as much attention as they did in their younger years.

"It is attitude and not age that represents the new generation of 40-plus women -- a confident, independent spirit, plus having their own money to spend on what they want," said Sue James, editor of the magazine.

Most of the women's worries appear to be about their children. They said they worry about violence, drugs and whether their children will find suitable partners or have financial problems.

So there you have it. We worry about our kids, but for us:

It’s the attitude baby!

Amen to that!
