I want to go skiing, but we haven’t this year. Or last year.
At Christmas Hubby and I joked about taking our family sledding a few years back – and everyone went, including my parents.
Last year, My seventy years old + dad went parasailing in Malaysia. Even though I wasn’t there, I have the video to prove it. I’ve heard he’s glad he went, but maybe he wouldn’t do it again.
Age should not matter when it comes to sports – and activities we do – but it does matter.
The time just slips away and the priorities have shifted. Living in Colorado though, there are plenty of forty and fifty plus people who get out in the mountains every day, or every weekend.
Sure I can still go skiing, but I’m less motivated to get up at five am, rush up the freeway for two and a half hours with a bunch of twenty something’s on the road crazy for the snow,
If we lived closer, we’d go all the time.
Sure. I tell myself that.
We live really close – within minutes, to great hiking, biking, picnicking and I don’t do any of that any more.
Having a child motivates me to want to get out in the mountains and play more. We were sure we’d take K skiing this year, but now it looks like it will wait a year. Maybe that year will give me extra time to get in better shape.
(Did I tell you guys I got a thingy that monitors my heart rate for Christmas? No excuses now.)
I take K swimming, walking, to the playground. It’s time to step it up. She got a bike for her birthday. Maybe I’ll have to take up running to keep up!
This year I’m going to get out more. Camp, Bike, HIke in the mountains.
I capitalized the words to stress the importance.
Play more.
This is the year.
