K's getting older too!

K on ThanksgivingFriday is K's birthday. She'll be three.

Three.

Since she came into our lives when she was thirty days old, we've pretty much had her for her whole life.

Everyone tells me how the time flies.

It's true.

I'm in better shape now than I was three years ago, but I wouldn't have thought so then. I've lost ten pounds – enough to feel a difference.

Yesterday she was tired from walking so I put her on my shoulders and carried her home. I don't know if I could have done that three years ago.

I'm acutely aware though that as K gets older so do I. In fact we share a December birthday, and mine is a few weeks after hers. There will always be forty five years between our ages.

My nurse practitioner has put me on a variety of supplements to help my health. My part of it all is to eat healthy, which I'm pretty good at, except for vegetables in the winter - and that dang chocolate that Hubby brought home from work the other day.

We're going to taking foster children again after the first of the year. (younger than two). I'm also committed to watching our two year old neighbor boy two mornings per week starting in January. Just as K starts to get a bit easier – she can feed herself, help put away clothes and play by herself, it'll be full blast again with mom duties.

The test is coming in January. Do I have the strength and energy to give to a two year old, three year old and a younger foster one?

I sure hope so!

We've been talking about K's birthday party for a couple of weeks now. At first I was going to do two parties – one for family and one for her friends, but it became a logistical nightmare, so now I”m doing one party and we'll see who shows.

At first I wanted to invite three friends, but it doesn't work that way. First I had to invite the two boys whose party she went to this year, then the two year old neighbor boy. She's got a 'best friend' boy that she plays with at my gym. That's four boys! I wanted to invite girls too, so I invited a girl she sometimes plays with and then two writing friends of mine with three small girls between them.. Achk! That's seven children!

I've invited K's birth mom as well and her baby girl. (Hubby thinks it's strange to invite her.)

If all the kids bring both parents – that's seventeen adults including us, and I know a couple of children have siblings as well. We're going to have a HUGE party for a three year old!

We're definitely the oldest parents by fifteen years. A few of the moms are in their thirties, but I don't consider thirty something old at all. In fact I consider thirty something young. Very young. But it'll be fun and we'll find a lot to talk about with seven children, three and under, in the house!

They'll play and run and K will show off her toys and new bike and entertain her friends.

She's three now you know.

Before you know it I'll blink and we'll be doing a graduation party.

Time flies.

I just had my sons 3rd birthday on Sunday and I just went though the same thing! We ended up with 27 kids in our house. (12 kids) It was crazy - we all went to bed right after the last people left! LOL. But it was worth every second of it! :)

oh what a cutie. three years old. what a sweet age. and more power to you with cranking up to do that mommy thang again with two more little bitty ones. i'm impressed. i'm in better shape now than i was several years ago myself. but i still have a ways to go. i don't think there's any way in hell that i could toss a three year old on my shoulders and walk two blocks without dropping dead!!! you are...The Woman.
