Sometimes I’m not sure if it is because I’m getting older, or just become I’m more family oriented that Boo at the Zoo is actually a fun evening out for me now.
Last night we took K up in her lion costume and watch as she growled and occasionally barked to get candy. Once I asked what her trick would be, but she just said HUH?, obviously not getting the concept that they might not have candy for her and it would go to trick stage.
Hubby and I immediately took out all the good stuff. (mini Snickers bars, M & M’s and a mini Butternut – they don’t give out much chocolate at the Zoo which I guess is a good thing since I’m on a weight loss program and chocolate is my downfall).
It was cold cold cold up at our mountain zoo, but K was prepared in a full furry lion custom I grabbed the first moment it was put out at the thrift store. ($5.00!). She was warm. We were not.
Oh well.
A fun entertaining evening sans alcohol, music, friends, dancing was had.
Just about everyone at the Boo at the Zoo was smiling – proud parents at the cute kids, the kids at each other, and the candy givers at the fun costumes.
What a way to spend an evening! Cool eh?
An another note, I saw on Oprah today that Norway is the best place to be a mom. Breastfeeding is ok anywhere in Norway and you get one full year of maternity leave off from work! I wonder if that is true for adoptive families?
Woo Hoo! Time to move?
Did you know it is illegal to spank children in Norway?
I'll blog more on this topic tommorow and what she found about moms worldwide.
