A couple of stories about older women and their accomplishments are just too much for me to pass by without passing along.

The first … well, I’m putting it first, as I figure folks will need to warm up for the second … is about a 67-year old Australian woman who swears she is, ” … absolutely determined to grow old disgracefully.”
She’s just been awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for the work she’s done over the years in her community.
In addition to years devoted to Brownies and Guides, the town playcentre, she’s now coordinating the “Older and Bolder” program.
… she is paid for 17 hours a week. But the job [is] pretty much a 24/7 one looking after the interests of Taihape’s large population of older people to ensure they get the services and support they need, when they need it.
Mrs Tierney is also a staunch and tireless advocate for rural senior citizens. In that activity she is one of a nationwide network of volunteer community coordinators, collecting the views of her senior citizens and advising the Minister for Senior Citizens on policies that impact on seniors.
Reflecting on her years of community service Mrs Tierney said the fun things – the fund-raising musical shows, fashion parades, Queen Carnivals and the like – were probably the most memorable aspects.
But her driving philosophy has always been, and still is: “I’m a doer. I’m just out there. If it can be done I’ll give it a go because you lose nothing by trying.
Yes, keeping busy keeps us young, and doing a service to humanity does a heart good, no matter what the age.
Not everyone would choose service in Mrs. Tierney’s sense of the word for busy-keeping, however, and some would put a whole different spin on the concept of disgraceful.
Take De’Bella, for example.
In an article titled “Older, but still naughty, Growing genre of pornographic films features men and women of a more advanced age”, we’re introduced to the world of geriatric porn.
De’Bella, turned 50 this year and decided to actively pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a porn queen.
“I love sex,” she explained, biting into a Burger King special before embarking on her scene for the day at a rented house in the San Fernando Valley. She was wearing a bright pink satin and black chiffon nightie with a matching thong and heavy makeup.
“I decided I wanted to do something different,” she said. “I’d been working behind the scenes, and my friends said: ‘Why not do movies? Have some fun, and get paid for it?”‘
So she has. Since May, De’Bella (she did not want her real name published) has used days off from her job as an administrative assistant at a sex-related entertainment company, Platinum X, to shoot about 30 scenes, with men mostly 19 and 20 years old.

Apparently, there’s been a rise in the popularity of blue rinse in blue movies, even those whose star, ” … looks like what she is, an attractive 50-year-old, with eyelids and cheeks that have succumbed to gravity and concentric circles of rippled skin on her belly from childbirth, three decades ago, and from dropping 38 pounds this year.”
Seems that “granny porn” is nothing new, although the article suggests programs like “Desperate Housewives” are fueling the demand that comes from leftover teen fantasies and other silliness.
With the advent of Viagra and such, the geezer porn guys are still up to the work in their 60s , so why not the older women, too?
I guess.
Or … maybe not. The whole thing rather creeps me out, but I’m a bit of a prude.
I don’t see this looking good in a homestudy, so most likely we’re not talking about potential adoptive parents. Right?

“Service-so to speak” is right. In the second case I’d say SERVICING would be a more correct term. I found it interesting that she is performing with very young men. If it is truly geriatric porn, wouldn’t both partners need to be geriatric? Speaking from my own experience, older men (well certainly MY older man) are very sexy. Jane
And I’ve always had a thing for younger men. To each her own.
As for the ‘granny porn’, I don’t the this old gal is too picky …
