I am so jazzed this morning! I got fan mail from my fan mail, and I can’t wait to show it off.

My 7-part series on “The Girls Who Went Away” was written partially as a tribute and a thank youAnn Fessler to Ann Fessler, the author, as her book moved me in ways I didn’t even know I could move. Since it’s always polite to let someone know when they’re being thanked and applauded, I emailed her the links to my posts.

This is what I got from her this morning:

Dear Sandra,

WOW. All I can say now is WOW… as tears dribble down my cheeks… in response to your amazing, passionate, powerful writing.

I have jokingly, well half-jokingly. said at a few bookstores readings … that I hoped to start a new feminist movement with the book. I think you should be in charge!!!!!

As you know after many gains — there has been a considerable and powerful movement to take us BACK to the good ol’days — current funding and sentiment for “abstinence only” education as well as attempts to wipe out gains related to choice… not to mention few gains in available child care etc.

I hope many women read your piece and join you in coughing up those giant angry hair balls!!!

All my very best,
Ann

Do you still live in California? Let me know what city you live in so if I speak anywhere nearby — I can let you know and we can meet.

I’ve already invited her for a tropical island vacation. We could have some great talks on my veranda.

I love it when people acknowledge their fans and take the time to respond to accolades. Ann Fessler is a class act! That she liked my series is icing on my shucks, golly, gee-whiz, that’s cool cupcake!

Okay, now I am impressed! She IS a very class act. I completely agree. She is also really bright and very insightful.

When I introduced myself to her at the CUB retreat, she recognized my name from one of my blogs about her book. I did not get an email though!

You did really nail it by saying that we were set up!
