First, thanks to Michelle for her vote of confidence that I would, indeed, come up with something to write about today. I didn’t exactly come up with any smashing new ideas, but I did come across this site, which is a link to an AARP Resource Guide for Older Parents. It is taken from an old online AARP article published in 2005. Somehow, I have overlooked it in previous searches. Still, I think the links and resources are something that most older parents would find useful and if not useful, then interesting. Hopefully they will be both useful and interesting.

For example, there is a link to Plum Magazine: The first ever pregnancy magazine for women 35 years and older. Never heard of it. Have you? I really like that title. Plum. It evokes imagery of ripeness. Maybe a little more mature than Peach Magazine, but still juicy? Decidedly better than Raisin Magazine, dontcha think? So, they done good with the title. Hopefully the content is equally as fitting for the intended audience.

I know folks find their way to the Older Parent Adoption Blog for information specific to older parenting and adoption. But, still, this Plum Magazine might be interesting to some of you. I am betting that many of the issues involving being an older parent apply no matter how motherhood is achieved.

Then there are a couple of links to some books that I was totally unfamiliar with. Two of them caught my attention. But I Don’t Feel Too Old To Be A Mommy! is one. The other is You Make Me Feel Like An Unnatural Woman: Diary of a New (Older) Mother. That title alone is seductive. I had one of those forhead slapping moments when I read it. “Geez! Couldn’t I have written that?”

The only on-line resource provided was www.adoptingorg.com. Hey! What about us here at www.adoptionblogs.com? We’re an excellent resource for all kinds of parents, including older parents. After all there are not one, not two, but three of us writing on the Older Adoptive Parent Blog? So, what does a blog hafta do to get some respect? Somebody oughta drop AARP a line and let them know we’re here. Maybe that somebody should be me!
