If you find yourself looking for a job in the US, Working Mother magazine has released its annual
list of the 100 top places to work with, of course, moms in mind.

So, what does it take to make the list? Time is one of the greatest benefits a company can give workers ... time in blocks and flexibility in time ... something most businesses are usually in the business of taking, not giving. The obligatory maternity leave and twelve weeks unpaid time off guaranteed under the Family and Medical Leave act just don't cut it with top employees who want a bit of life with their work., and especially family life.
"Moms with newborns have different needs than those with older children or 'come-back' moms returning to the workforce. Progressive companies offer programs that support moms as their family's and their career needs change."
Here are some of innovative ideas companies making the list have come up with:
On-site early childcare, lactation rooms and information for nursing moms.
Alternative on-site/off-site daycare on school holidays, volunteer programs and summer camp for moms with tweens and teens.
College scholarship programs.
On-line mentoring and leadership programs for career growth.
Networking leads and opportunities for those choosing to work part-time, so they stay informed about company and industry issues and changes.
Tuition reimbursement for employees.
Flex time: part time, compressed weeks, job share and telecommuting.
Sick days to care for a sick child.
Dads and adoption are also getting attention:
Paid paternity leave, while still a rare find, is on the rise allowing moms to have partners available to help at the time of birth. The number of companies in the top 10 offering time off to new dads is up 19% over last year, as is paid adoption leave, [Working Mother magazine editor Suzanne] Riss said. "Companies are increasingly recognizing parents who adopt, and adoption is becoming more popular as more moms are delaying having kids."
